Electric Power Steering System Products
Electric power steering (EPS) system controls the motor drive torque by precise current adjustment based on steering torque signals detected with torque sensor and provides vehicle drivers with fine steering assist according to the state of vehicle operation. Consuming power only when steering assist is necessary, it is more fuel efficient than the conventional hydraulic power steering system.
Electrical control unit (ECU) determines the required torque for steering assist from torque sensor signal, motor speed, etc. and supplies the necessary electric power to the brush motor.
The ECU for our second-generation brush motor has a substantially simplified structure, and while maintaining the compatibility with existing parts such as connector, it achieved 50% reduction in volume and mass compared to ECU for the first-generation model for equivalent output.
Also, for smooth steering feel, it uses a new microprocessor with better processing speed and capacity than the previous design and improved the control performance.
