Remaining Life Diagnosis for Switchgear Insulation Performance using the MT Method

Mitsubishi Electric has developed an innovative technology that makes it possible to "estimate the remaining insulator life of switchgear using the MT method.*1 It is now possible to determine the remaining service life of switchgear insulators quantitatively (e.g., 5.4 years). This technology enhances the safety of power distribution systems and makes it possible to provide a reference for the optimal time to replace or refurbish equipment.

*1 The MT method is a quality engineering multivariate analysis technique known as the "Mahalanobis-Taguchi System."
