Economic and other benefits

By helping to decrease overall power demand, solar energy can offset the high costs of electricity. The technology can even be connected to the utility grid so that excess power generated via PV modules can be sold back to the local utility company. This can benefit local communities by helping to offset power outages during peak periods of consumption.

What's more, in case of power outages caused by natural or other disasters, residences and commercial facilities with solar power systems can rest assured they have a back-up in place for their immediate needs, as well as to be able to receive important information transmissions from relief agencies.
