Mitsubishi Electric's Diamond Vision® Makes Debut in Las Vegas

Park Place Entertainment Selects Diamond Vision® for Bally's Casino "Spectacular"

Diamond Vision® Systems, a division of Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc., made Las Vegas even brighter this summer with the installation of three LEDERBOARD® 18 large-scale video display screens on Las Vegas Boulevard. This marks the debut of Diamond Vision® on the Las Vegas Strip. The screens were erected on a massive 150’ tall structure at Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel Casino Resort, on the bustling corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road. Two screens, each utilizing 138, 240 LED pixels, measure 24’ x 40’ in size; the third screen measures 18’ x 34’ with 93, 184 LED pixels.

“The major deciding factor for Park Place Entertainment was simply the quality of the Diamond Vision product,” said Rick Juleen, director of Graphics and Signage for Park Place Entertainment. Mr. Juleen went on to describe the importance of “Mitsubishi Electric’s ability to deliver their high quality product to meet the fast-track time frame for this project.”

Park Place Entertainment is the largest gaming company in the world, with properties including the Bally’s, Caesars, Paris, Hilton, Flamingo and Grand names. Over 35 million visitors to Las Vegas each year will have a clear view of the spectacular Diamond Vision® screens in action outside Bally’s Resort. The screens are customized with maximum viewing angles to give the best possible picture quality to both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The screens offer the most current technology, as well as the brightest, most colorful imaging available on the busiest intersection of the prominent Las Vegas Strip.

In the last two years alone, Mitsubishi Electric has installed 62 Diamond Vision® screens in collegiate and professional facilities. Recent installations at NBA/NHL facilities include The Pond in Anaheim, home of the NHL Mighty Ducks; Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets; Conseco Fieldhouse, home of the NBA Indiana Pacers; The Palace at Auburn Hills, home of the NBA Detroit Pistons; and Philips Arena, home of the NHL Atlanta Thrashers and NBA Hawks. More NBA/NHL facilities include American Airlines Arena, home of the NBA Miami Heat; Bradley Center, home of the NBA Milwaukee Bucks; and the National Car Rental Center, home of the NHL Florida Panthers. Collegiate installations include Penn State University, Southern Methodist University, University of Kentucky, Texas Tech University, Brigham Young University, and University of Nebraska.

Mitsubishi Electric was the first company to introduce large-scale video display boards with their installation at Dodger Stadium for the 1980 Major League Baseball All-Star game. The innovative technology that established worldwide leadership for Diamond Vision® improves with each new generation of products – from the 1980 original at Dodger Stadium, to the indoor Mark II of 1986, and the full-scale outdoor Mark III of the 90s. Mitsubishi Electric’s current product is the Diamond Vision® LEDERBOARD®, a full-color, LED (light emitting diode) display system which brilliantly merges the company’s expertise in large-scale video displays with LED technology. The result is a stunning high-resolution video image from a thinner, lighter, energy-efficient medium, with an amazing 170º horizontal viewing angle and a 1.5 times improved image resolution. Mitsubishi Electric’s Colorspace Conversion technology converts the chromaticity of each color of the LED display to more accurately reproduce the colors of the original image. Whether the audience is viewing a sporting event or a concert, the image they see on a Diamond Vision® large-scale video display is as clear and true to life as the actual event they are watching. Diamond Vision® screens have been star performers at major events worldwide. Sports stadiums, racetracks, arenas, coliseums and concert halls have come to depend on Diamond Vision® for the highest resolution, the brightest, most colorful and clearest imaging available.
