Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision® Introduces LEDerAD™

Atlanta, GA, August 13, 2001 - Diamond Vision® Systems Division of Mitsubishi Electric has expanded its product line-up by introducing LEDERAD™, a digital advertising system that offers dynamic video-based advertising surrounding the bowl fascia of stadiums and arenas, as well as other linear applications. With the introduction of LED-based LEDERAD™, Diamond Vision® now offers the full spectrum of large-scale displays and advertising media to customers.

The LEDERAD™ has been engineered with the same quality that Mitsubishi Electric has exhibited over the past twenty years in the Diamond Vision® products, and will make Mitsubishi Electric a one-stop shop for customers seeking LED signage. All of the key advantages that have made the LEDERBOARD® large-scale video board so highly regarded in the industry¾ such as extreme viewing angles, high contrast and resolution, brilliant color and smooth processing¾ have been incorporated in the LEDERAD™.

The LEDERAD™ can be customized to any size needed for a particular application, and is available with either indoor or outdoor technologies. The Windows®-based interface is very simple and user friendly, requiring only a touch to activate its many features. It can display still and animated graphics as well as video files, and allows the end-user to produce content in formats they are accustomed to using. Graphic animations are included with the purchase of the system, along with a selection of transition effects.

In the last two years, Mitsubishi Electric has installed 77 Diamond Visionā screens for advertising use and in collegiate and professional facilities. Recent installations include the new Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium for the Denver Broncos, Bally’s Casino & Hotel on bustling Las Vegas Boulevard, and an 11-screen display on Times Square in New York City. NBA/NHL facilities include Conseco Fieldhouse, home of the NBA Indiana Pacers; Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets; The Palace at Auburn Hills, home of the NBA Detroit Pistons; and Philips Arena, home of the NHL Atlanta Thrashers and NBA Hawks. Other NBA/NHL facilities include American Airlines Arena, home of the NBA Miami Heat; Bradley Center, home of the NBA Milwaukee Bucks; and the National Car Rental Center, home of the NHL Florida Panthers. Collegiate installations include Penn State University, Southern Methodist University, University of Kentucky, Texas Tech University, Brigham Young University, and University of Nebraska.

Mitsubishi Electric was the first company to introduce large-scale video display boards with their installation at Dodger Stadium for the 1980 Major League Baseball All-Star game. The innovative technology that established worldwide leadership for Diamond Visionā improves with each new generation of products¾ from the 1980 original at Dodger Stadium, to the indoor Mark II of 1986, and the full-scale outdoor Mark III of the 90s.

Today, Mitsubishi Electric’s flagship product is the Diamond Visionā LEDerboard®, a full-color, LED (light emitting diode) display system which merges the company’s expertise in large-scale video displays with LED technology. The result is a stunning high-resolution video image from a thinner, lighter, energy-efficient medium, with an amazing 170° horizontal viewing angle and a 1.5 times improved image resolution. Mitsubishi Electric’s Colorspace Conversion technology converts the chromaticity of each color of the LED display to more accurately reproduce the colors of the original image. Whether the audience is viewing a sporting event or a concert, the image they see on a Diamond Visionā large-scale video display is as clear and true-to-life as the actual event they are watching. Diamond Visionā screens have been star performers at major events worldwide. Sports stadiums, racetracks, arenas, coliseums and concert halls have come to depend on Diamond Visionā for the highest resolution, the brightest, most colorful and clearest imaging available.
