LAWRENCEVILLE, GAAugust 14, 2001Mitsubishi Electric HVAC, a recognized leader in air processing, has lowered the price of its PlasmaPure air purifiers. The direct-to-consumer price reductions make PlasmaPure one of the most affordable high-technology air purifiers available today.
Mitsubishi Electrics top-selling MA-EF503HS-U model, which handles a 233 square-foot (approx. 13 by 18) room, has been reduced to $299 from $389; the MA-EF303HS-U model, which handles a 155 square-foot (11 x 14) room, is now just $249, down from $359. The company has also implemented a three-month payment plan for phone orders.
Mitsubishi Electric believes the price reductions will make the units more accessible to health-conscious consumers who may choose less-effective units based on price rather than quality.
"While there are a host of units on the market at bargain-basement prices, none offer our plasma technology or match the performance of PlasmaPure," says Don Nordin, product manager for Mitsubishi Electric HVAC. "We feel that consumers shouldnt have to sacrifice their health by choosing a cheaper, less-effective product."
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Americans spend up to 90 percent of their time indoors, much of it at home. Studies have shown that indoor air may be up to five times more polluted than the air outside. In fact, people who spend much of their time indoorsespecially infants, children, senior citizens and persons with chronic illnessesare at especially high risk for health problems such as asthma, allergies and bronchial infections. Biological pollutants such as pets, dust mites, bacteria, molds and pollen are inherent in every home, and they all contribute to conditions that can negatively impact our quality of life.
PlasmaPure's microdust and pollen sensors are able to detect airborne particles invisible to the naked eye, using an optical system with a light emitting diode (LED). Its odor sensor is exceptionally sensitive to cleaning chemicals, formaldehyde, ammonia, NOx gas, and other odor-producing compounds. The concentration of odors and airborne particles are indicated on PlasmaPure's control panel.
PlasmaPure's High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter effectively removes 99.97% of all dust particles down to 0.3 microns, making almost any room in your home virtually free of pollen, house dust, mold spores, animal hair and dander, dust mites, bacteria and smoke particles. Once the sensors detect these contaminants, they activate PlasmaPures inverter-controlled fan motor to draw household air through a series of state-of-the-art filters. The HEPA filter provides a dry environment that tightly compresses the trapped particles, preventing bacteria from growing because there is no moisture.
The HEPA filter in PlasmaPure is protected by a thin pre-filter, which blocks larger particles such as pet hair. This pre-filter is coated with Persimmon Catechin (katikin), which fights viruses and bacteria and helps extend the useful life of the HEPA element.
Within the unit, six Plasma electrodes create a field of electrically charged particles that collide with the odor molecules, turning them into carbon dioxide and water vapor. An activated charcoal filter then discharges these "sanitized" molecules, while remaining odor molecules are absorbed into the charcoal. This decomposition action by the plasma process also extends the life of the charcoal filter for up to five years under normal operating conditions. (Most air purifiers HEPA filters last only one year under normal operating conditions, and their charcoal filters last only three months, much less than PlasmaPure's.)
To further reduce costs to consumers, the units are sold exclusively through Mitsubishi Electrics PlasmaPure website, www.plasmapure.com, and by phone. There is no charge for standard ground shipping, and all units come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. On the website, consumers may view a 3D demonstration of the PlasmaPure in action, as well as learn more about Plasma and HEPA technologies.
