Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan and Mitsubishi Electric US Group Companies Donate $1 Million to the September 11 Disaster Relief Effort

CYPRESS, CA, September 26, 2001 --- Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan, a global electronics firm, and its Mitsubishi Electric US Group Companies, will donate $1 million jointly to three funds in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Four hundred fifty thousand dollars will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, $450,000 to the September 11th Fund, and $100,000 to the Heroes of Flight 93 Memorial Fund.

The Heroes of Flight 93 Memorial Fund was established by Mitsubishi Electric’s Power Products, Inc., headquartered outside Pittsburgh, PA. Proceeds will fund the design/build and maintenance of a memorial at the crash site to honor those on board Flight 93. The fund will be administered by The Pittsburgh Foundation.

"It is important that we demonstrate our support for all of those who now must deal with the harm brought on by these vicious and cowardly deeds. On behalf of Dr. Taniguchi, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, and all of our employees around the world, we express our heartfelt condolences to those who have been personally touched by this tragedy. I am pleased that our parent company in Tokyo shares in our concern for those in need and in the desire to help."

Mitsubishi Electric US, through the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation, will continue to contribute by matching US employee donations dollar-for-dollar and giving $10 for every blood donation.
