Mitsubishi Electric’s Diamond Vision® Sells 50 Transportable Modules to Information & Display Systems, Inc.

IDS Makes Second Major Purchase from Diamond Vision

ATLANTA, GA, December 13, 2002 ¾ Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision® Systems has sold 50 full-color transportable display modules to Information & Display Systems, Inc. (IDS) of Jacksonville, Florida. IDS is one of the world’s leading providers of information and display technology for the sports industry. In August, Mitsubishi Electric sold 18 of its new amber LED transportable modules to IDS.

The LEDERBOARD® AVL-OD8 color display modules feature Diamond Vision’s 8mm-dot pitch system, and are designed for outdoor use. They will be present at major events such as tennis, golf and professional soccer tournaments, as well as festivals, concerts and other outdoor functions. The screens can display live feeds, pre-produced content, graphics and scoring.

The AVL-OD8 modules use the Digital Screen Controller (DSC) to accept separate feeds directly into a controller. This technology --- which is unique to Diamond Vision --- allows IDS to interface their scoring and statistics software directly to the display, along with other video sources. The controller enables the modules to handle various types of information, including graphics and animation, making them suitable for a wide range of events.

The high-resolution AVL-OD8 modules may be either hung or stacked, and with viewing angles of 120 degrees horizontal and 45 degrees vertical, allow anyone viewing the screen to have a clear view of the Diamond Vision display.

In the last two years, Mitsubishi Electric has installed 85 Diamond Vision screens for both advertising use and in collegiate and professional facilities. Recent installations include Yankee Stadium, Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium for the Denver Broncos, Bally’s Casino & Hotel on Las Vegas Boulevard, and an 11-screen display in New York City’s Times Square.

Mitsubishi Electric was the first company to introduce large-scale video display boards for the 1980 Major League Baseball All-Star game. Today, Mitsubishi Electric’s flagship product is the Diamond Vision LEDerboard, a full-color, LED display system that merges the company’s expertise in large-scale video displays with LED technology. The result is a stunning, high-resolution video image from a thinner, lighter, energy-efficient medium, with an amazing 170-degree horizontal viewing angle and a 1.5 times improved image resolution. Mitsubishi Electric’s Colorspace Conversion technology converts the chromaticity of each color of the LED display to more accurately reproduce the colors of the original image. Whether the audience is viewing a sporting event or a concert, the image they see on a Diamond Vision large-scale video display is as clear and true-to-life as the actual event they are watching.

Headquartered in Lawrenceville, GA, Diamond Vision is a division of Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan. For more information about Diamond Vision, visit http://www.diamond-vision.com.
