Celine Dion Productions Selects Mitsubishi
Electrics Diamond Vision®
for Las Vegas Engagement
North Americas Largest Indoor LED Video Screen
Will be
Installed at Caesars Palace Colosseum
The creative team chose the Diamond Vision® after an extensive review of other large-scale displays.
"I went to New York City last winter to look at all the LED screens in Times Square not knowing which screens were manufactured by who," said Yves Aucion, Lighting Designer/Director for Celine Dion. "The Diamond Vision screens on the Reuters building stood out as the best video displays there. They were very bright, and the color reproduction was very accurate and distinctive."
Installation of the massive screen has truly taken a worldwide effort. Diamond Vision® has been working with the shows content designers in Belgium, the scenic department in Montreal, onsite contractors in Las Vegas, and Mitsubishi Electric engineers in Nagasaki, Japan.
This high-resolution, 16 mm SMD (surface mounted diode) screen will use multiple Digital Screen Controllers (DSC) networked together with each DSC having the ability to accept three separate feeds directly into the controller. This technology --- which is unique to Diamond Vision® --- allows multiple content to display on the screen simultaneously, and gives show producers much more versatility. From the DSC input abilities to the high-definition cameras being used to create content, all the processors and equipment involved have been specially selected to ensure high, eye-catching resolution and to make full use of the enormous resolution of the display. And thanks to the spectacular viewing angles, no matter where fans sit in the theater, they will have a clear view of the Diamond Vision® screen.
"From a production point of view, the possibilities are endless," said Aucion. "Diamond Visions processor and software will enable us to incorporate vivid imagery into Celines show, and complement her music with show-stopping visuals. We havent even begun to explore the opportunities that the Diamond Vision display offers."
In the last two years, Mitsubishi Electric has installed 85 Diamond Vision® screens for both advertising use and in collegiate and professional facilities. Recent installations include Yankee Stadium, Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium for the Denver Broncos, Ballys Casino & Hotel on bustling Las Vegas Boulevard, and an 11-screen display on Times Square in New York City.
Mitsubishi Electric was the first company to introduce large-scale video display boards for the 1980 Major League Baseball All-Star game at Dodger Stadium. Today, Mitsubishi Electrics flagship product is the Diamond Vision® LEDerboard®, a full-color, LED display system that merges the companys expertise in large-scale video displays with LED technology. The result is a stunning, high-resolution video image from a thinner, lighter, energy-efficient medium, with an amazing 170° horizontal viewing angle and a 1.5 times improved image resolution. Mitsubishi Electrics Colorspace Conversion technology converts the chromaticity of each color of the LED display to more accurately reproduce the colors of the original image. Whether the audience is viewing a sporting event or a concert, the image they see on a Diamond Vision® large-scale video display is as clear and true-to-life as the actual event they are watching.
Headquartered in Lawrenceville, GA, Diamond Vision® is a division of Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan. For more information about Diamond Vision®, visit http://www.diamond-vision.com.
