New York Yankees, Mitsubishi Electric
Team Up for Big Inside-the-Park Hit
Diamond Vision® Offers Fans Outstanding Game Images
ATLANTA, GA, March 4, 2002 --- Diamond Vision® Systems, a division of
Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc., will install an LED (Light Emitting
Diode) large-scale video display screen at Yankee Stadium this spring. The 25 x
33 screen will be ready for Opening Day 2002.
This installation continues the long-standing relationship between the American League champion New York Yankees and Mitsubishi Electric, who in 1983 installed the Diamond Vision® video display screen currently in use at Yankee Stadium. The Yankee organization felt the exceptional performance of Diamond Vision® over the past 19 years merited continuing the Mitsubishi Electric tradition in the stadium.
"The Yankees are thrilled to install a new Diamond Vision screen this year," said Michael Bonner, Yankee scoreboard and broadcasting manager. "We have been very pleased with the current Diamond Vision over the past 19 years, and are excited about getting into the LED age at Yankee Stadium.
"Seeing the Diamond Vision screens in action at Invesco Field in Denver sealed the deal for us; the product speaks for itself, really. We feel very confident in our decision to stay with Mitsubishi Electric."
No matter where fans sit in the stadium, they will have a clear view of the Diamond Vision® screens. These screens offer the most current technology, as well as the brightest, most colorful imaging available, along with spectacular viewing angles.
In the last two years, Mitsubishi Electric has installed 77 Diamond Vision® screens for both advertising use and in collegiate and professional facilities. Recent installations include the new Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium for the Denver Broncos, Ballys Casino & Hotel on bustling Las Vegas Boulevard, and an 11-screen display on Times Square in New York City. NBA/NHL facilities include Conseco Fieldhouse, home of the NBA Indiana Pacers; Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets; The Palace at Auburn Hills, home of the NBA Detroit Pistons; and Philips Arena, home of the NHL Atlanta Thrashers and NBA Hawks. Collegiate installations include Penn State University, Southern Methodist University, University of Kentucky, Texas Tech University, Brigham Young University, and University of Nebraska.
Mitsubishi Electric was the first company to introduce large-scale video display boards for the 1980 Major League Baseball All-Star game at Dodger Stadium. Today, Mitsubishi Electrics flagship product is the Diamond Vision® LEDerboard®, a full-color, LED (light emitting diode) display system which merges the companys expertise in large-scale video displays with LED technology. The result is a stunning, high-resolution video image from a thinner, lighter, energy-efficient medium, with an amazing 170° horizontal viewing angle and a 1.5 times improved image resolution. Mitsubishi Electrics Colorspace Conversion technology converts the chromaticity of each color of the LED display to more accurately reproduce the colors of the original image. Whether the audience is viewing a sporting event or a concert, the image they see on a Diamond Vision® large-scale video display is as clear and true-to-life as the actual event they are watching.
Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc. markets an extensive line of consumer, commercial and industrial electronics products, including semiconductor devices; Diamond Vision® stadium display screens; elevators and escalators; home theater electronics; heating and air conditioning systems; automotive electronics, and other products. Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc. is the largest U.S. subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan.
