Mitsubishi Electric Extends
DataSurveyorTM Technology
to VHF and UHF Power Amplifiers with New Design Accelerator Kit
FORT WORTH, Texas – June 8, 2004 – International Microwave Symposium (IEEE MTT-S Booth #1947) – The Semiconductor Division of Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA, Inc., announced the availability of DAK-3A, the latest in a series of advanced Design Accelerator Kits featuring DataSurveyor™. Developed to give designers the information and tools needed to go from design to production in the shortest possible time, the DAK-3 has been introduced for two silicon radio frequency (RF) unmatched power transistors, the RD06HVF1 (6 Watt) and RD15HVF1 (15 Watt). DAK-3A was developed specifically to reduce design time for VHF and UHF power amplifier applications such as those needed in the two-way radio applications used by today’s police, ambulance and fire departments.
The centerpiece of the new DAK-3A kit is the latest version of the DataSurveyor software tool, a fully interactive vehicle enabling the designer to investigate performance of the devices independently or in cascade across a wide range of user-selectable RF drive, bias and temperature conditions, and provides for advanced math processing and data export functions. The data presented by DataSurveyor is ‘real world’ measurement data for the devices in the supplied reference design, based on measurements of literally thousands of data points.
“The DAK-3A is the apex of efforts to bring truly valuable, time-saving tools to our customer and providing real, value-added substance to the design equation,” stated King Liang, marketing manager at Mitsubishi Electric. “Our RF devices are among the highest performance, most reliable semiconductor devices in the world. The challenge today is to help our customers achieve improved time to market. Our Design Accelerator Kits and DataSurveyor do just that.”
DAK-3A is the third in a series of Design Accelerator Kits that Mitsubishi Electric has made available to the RF design community. DAK-1 features reference designs and tool set for a lineup of leadless surface mount GaAs FETs for microwave power amplifiers. DAK-2 features a reference tool set for a line of Si hybrid RF 7 Watt power amplifier modules covering VHF & UHF frequencies. All three kits are available with the proprietary DataSurveyor technology.
The evolving DAK series provides a tool set for RF designers providing reference designs, application notes, fixtures and evaluation samples to showcase devices within Mitsubishi Electric’s line of high-frequency products. All the tools are included in the kit, from a fully assembled reference design test fixture that is ready to test right out of the box (on its own fan-cooled heatsink) to extensive sets of characterization data available through the DataSurveyor tool. It also offers applications notes and exportable data files for the reference design and the device design parameters.
