Since our founding in 1921, we have continued to take on challenge after challenge using the technologies we have cultivated, and we look forward to the challenges of the future.

Founding of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation

1933

Marketed E-type axial rotation magnet as the first vehicle electrical component

1943

Himeji Works, a satellite factory of Kobe Works, established

Production of aircraft electrical components at the Fukuyama Works begins

1946

  • Production of vehicle electrical components (dynamo starter) begins

1953

First nationwide service network in the industry established

1954

Exhibited vehicle electrical components at the 1st All-Japan Automobile Show (the current Tokyo Motor Show)

1955

  • First car radios manufactured

1959

  • Production of fuel pumps at the Fukuyama Works begins

1962

  • As a world’s first, started mass production of alternators for use in passenger vehicles

1967

Production of 8-track audio deck with radio begins

1968

Mass production of alternators incorporating lC regulator begins

1970

Production of the world’s first auto-reverse cassette player begins

1979

Car audio production begins in Singapore

Production of world’s first electronic tuner car radio begins

1980

Full production of parts compatible with electronically-controlled fuel injectors begins

1982

Production of new type of alternator (internal fan construction) begins

Production of car CD players begins

Sanda Works rededicated as a production facility specializing in automotive related actuators and car audio systems

Production of world’s first RDS-equipped car audio for OEM begins

1988

Production of automobile electrical components in the USA begins

Production of world’s first electric power steering system begins

Production of electrically-controlled EGR valve begins

Mass production of high-pressure fuel pumps & in-cylinder injectors for direct injection system of gasoline engines begins

1997

Automotive Electronics Development Center established

Automotive equipment manufacturing base in Thailand — Mitsubishi Electric Thai Auto-Parts Co., Ltd. (META)-established

Automotive equipment manufacturing base in Indonesia — PT. Mitsubishi Electric Automotive Indonesia (MEAINA)-established
