Singapore team played four thrilling matches of which two home matches were held at Japan Besar Stadium.
As the title sponsor of the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup, and in addition to providing photo booths and balloon sticks at the Fan Village to enhance joy of game-watching experience, Mitsubishi Electric is working to enrich the community through football by various initiatives such as inviting local children to take part in the Player Escort Programme and backstage tours.
One of the player escort, Areef, is a 12-year-old from Singapore whose favorite national player is the Singaporean goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud. This is his second time as a player escort, but he is more excited than ever to be standing on the pitch beside a player in front of a full stadium this time!
Before going onto the pitch, the atmosphere in the locker room was quite tense as the children seemed to be very nervous for their upcoming role. Aqmar, a 11-year-old boy was having mixed feelings and said, “I am very excited but nervous at the same time as I am going to meet the legendary players!”
After coming off the pitch, the children appeared to be more relaxed and excited after their interaction with the national players. One of the children even exclaimed in the locker room, “He massaged my shoulders and talked to me!”
