Now, it’s time to meet the two figures behind the oven’s conception: product designers Hiroaki Ito and Hitomi Yotsuya. The principal of one local elementary school was particularly concerned about schoolchildren navigating their way through the crowds – and so came up with an innovative solution to ensure their safety and put their parents’ minds at peace.

Meet Kyaw Kyaw Linn, a former candle merchant at a night market in Yangon, Myanmar. The market makes use of candles as a light source, and for Kyaw Kyaw they’re a source of business; but with frequent rain and wind at the market, he realized that there’s a limit to candles’ sustainability. Here, he devised a solution – one that brought light to the market and to the spirits of other merchants. Kyaw Kyaw proves how illuminating one idea can be.
