Mitsubishi Electric’s FA systems business aims to enable employees to fully demonstrate their ideas, technologies, and beliefs to achieve the common goal of “Automating the World.”
Through the “Road to Automating the World” series, we share their authentic voices from around the world.
This time, we are talking with Mr. Lukasz Sendecki, who has a wide range of responsibilities at the FA System Business Group of Mitsubishi Electric Europe, Poland Branch.

An Environment That Offers Continuous Opportunities for Learning and Professional Growth

── What made you interested in manufacturing?

Lukasz:When I received my first Lego Technic set at the age of 10, I realized that I would not become an opera singer or a famous poet (laughs), but I wanted to do something related to manufacturing. The development of robotics, automation, and digitalization in Central Eastern Europe has been more spectacular than ever before. To quickly jump on the fast-moving technological train, I studied Management in Heavy Industry at university.

── What made you decide to join Mitsubishi Electric?

Lukasz:The rapid development of global technology players in Europe made me want to enter the international arena. At that time, the Polish branch of Mitsubishi Electric Europe (MEU) had become the headquarters for Central Eastern Europe, contributing to the expansion of industrial technologies in 15 countries across the region. That dynamic environment also provided great opportunities for my personal growth.

── Could you share details about your current job and responsibilities?

Lukasz:I currently lead a large team of around 40 staff as the manager of the FA Marketing & Technical Support (MTS) Department at Mitsubishi Electric Europe, Poland Branch (MEU-PL). My responsibilities cover a wide range of areas, including marketing, product management, and technical support. I am also in charge of budget planning and execution control for the entire Central Eastern Europe region, including MEU-PL.

── You have a wide range of responsibilities. What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Lukasz:My job is really rewarding because I get a lot of satisfaction from it in different ways. One part I enjoy is working with cutting-edge technologies and solutions. I also find it fulfilling to help solve business challenges—whether they’re technical, financial, HR-related, or strategic. Additionally, I get a strong sense of achievement when I can successfully build dynamic, interdisciplinary teams alongside talented people and specialists. But what keeps me the most motivated is being in an environment that constantly offers chances to learn and grow. I really value the culture of continuous self-development.

Keeping in Mind That We All Work in a People-to-People Business Environment

── Is there any particular challenge you face in your job?

Lukasz:In Central Eastern Europe, we navigate multiple languages—each of the 15 countries has its own—as well as diverse cultures and geopolitical landscapes. The biggest challenge, from my perspective, is the need to quickly adapt to and understand new situations, no matter which country we are working with.

── Is there anything you consciously do to overcome this challenge?

Lukasz:Working with multiple nationalities requires building a strong team of highly motivated and talented individuals. In key FA engineering projects, we often discuss task schedules, ROI, and payment conditions, but clients’ final decisions frequently hinge on whether a top Mitsubishi Electric engineer will be involved. For clients, “people” are just as important as financial aspects. This highlights the fact that while our business operates in a B2B (business-to-business) environment, it is also fundamentally P2P (people-to-people). I believe that hiring and nurturing talented individuals is key to an organization’s success.

── How do you think your job and your team’s work contribute to society?

Lukasz:I believe our work contributes to society in three ways. First, we help make everyday life more convenient, safe, and enjoyable for people worldwide. Second, we support the improvement of living standards in the communities where we operate. Finally, we contribute to environmental conservation by reducing our carbon footprint, developing energy-efficient products, and promoting recycling and waste reduction.
From a regional perspective, in Central Eastern Europe, there is a growing call to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in becoming competitive in global markets. We must ensure fair treatment of customers, regardless of their size, rather than favoring only major clients. Our goal is to contribute to the growth of all companies.

── Finally, could you share your thoughts on manufacturing?

Lukasz:We have great access to advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), which can revolutionize manufacturing. However, we must always maintain a human-centric approach. Safe working conditions, a focus on the well-being of workers and consumers, and the development of products that enhance quality of life all contribute to a positive societal impact. Technology should coexist harmoniously with people, creating products that bring meaningful “Changes for the Better”. I believe this embodies Mitsubishi Electric’s spirit of “monozukuri”.
