TOKYO, January 22, 2019 - Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that CDP, a global-disclosure system that encourages companies and cities to manage their environmental impacts responsibly, has given Mitsubishi Electric its highest rank, the A List, in the categories of climate and water for a third consecutive year. The top rankings recognize the environmental focus of Mitsubishi Electric's business activities and goals as well as the company's timely and appropriate information disclosure.

Mitsubishi Electric's recent initiatives to preserve water resources include the effective management of water consumption and emissions at its domestic and overseas production bases, reduction of water consumption through water conservation and reuse, and the promotion of more efficient uses of water. Additional initiatives include the development of water-purification technologies utilizing ozone, etc. and the supply of water-purification systems for water-supply and sewerage systems, factories and public facilities.

Under the company's Environmental Vision 2021 plan focused on realizing low-carbon societies, recycling-based societies and increased respect for biodiversity, Mitsubishi Electric is strengthening its environmental-management foundations and promoting environmental initiatives to become a "global, leading green company." Mitsubishi Electric also has a long-term environmental vision for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the next 10 to 30 years. CDP is a not-for-profit organization working to enhance global disclosure. CDP distributes environmental questionnaires on topics such as climate change, water security, forests, supply chains and cities to companies and municipalities and then evaluates their responses to help investors make informed decisions.
