Recognition is a milestone. What matters more is how a company consistently creates an environment where people can do their best work

At Mitsubishi Electric Asia Pte Ltd (MEAP), employee well-being is shaped by a clear belief: people perform best when they feel supported, respected, and trusted. In Singapore, where the company is located, this belief has recently been affirmed through independent external recognition. More importantly, it is reflected in everyday practices that influence how employees experience their work and connect with one another.

It looks beyond accolades, focusing on the culture and actions that help people thrive.

What independent recognition reflects about MEAP’s culture

In April 2025, Singapore’s flagship newspaper, The Straits Times, in collaboration with Statista, named MEAP among Singapore’s Best Employers 2025, based on an independent survey of employees. The assessment highlighted elements such as job stability, opportunities for development, and the support provided when employees navigate change or take on new responsibilities.

In July 2025, MEAP was featured by Asian news network Channel NewsAsia (CNA) as part of its Company of Good coverage. The CNA feature highlights how MEAP integrates purpose into its business and culture — advancing sustainability through energy-efficient and green technologies, while supporting employees, communities, and customers. The coverage reinforces MEAP’s belief that long-term impact begins from within, and extends beyond the bottom line.

In the same year, WorkWell Leaders, a Singapore based non profit focused on workplace well being and leadership, recognized MEAP as one of Singapore’s Top 25 Impact Employers at the WorkWell Leaders Awards 2025. This recognition highlights leadership behaviors and company wide practices that enable sustainable well being and performance.

Together, these recognitions provide independent validation. They are not the story themselves, but they provide useful context for how employees experience the company in their day to day work.

What thriving looks like in practice

1) Supporting employee well being through practical action

Today, mental well-being plays an increasingly important role in an employee’s overall quality of life and performance at work. Organizations are no longer focusing only on awareness, but also on practical support and everyday habits that help people stay resilient and engaged.

MEAP invests in mental wellness activities and workshops designed to build practical day-to-day capability, not just awareness. These initiatives equip employees and managers with useful tools to manage stress, support one another, and foster psychologically safe team environments. During Mental Wellness Month in October 2025, a series of activities were rolled out, including distribution of Stickers of Encouragement that feature positive messages, a Mind Gym Challenge with short brain teasers, and a Mental Workout Day Workshop focused on mindfulness and mental resilience.

Beyond Mental Wellness Month, MEAP also places strong emphasis on broader employee safety and health through regular Kopi Chats, educational talks, quarterly fruits distribution and biodiversity walks. These informal sessions encourage open conversations, reflection and shared learning, reinforcing that overall well-being, including workplace safety and physical health, remains an ongoing priority embedded in the company’s culture.

2) Building connection through shared experiences

Social and Recreational (S&R) activities create meaningful opportunities for employees to connect beyond their regular work responsibilities. From sports sessions such as badminton and bowling, to celebrating festive occasions or milestones together, as well as annual Dinner and Dance events, biennial company trips and Family Day, these shared moments bring people together across teams and functions. They play an important role in strengthening relationships, building trust, and deepening a sense of belonging as one organization.

3) Contributing beyond the workplace

Employees are also encouraged to participate in corporate social responsibility initiatives, with opportunities to volunteer and support the wider community. The company’s CSR efforts are guided by three key pillars — philanthropy, education, and the environment, ensuring that its contributions are purposeful and impact-driven. These activities reflect the company’s belief that contributing to society is an important part of building a meaningful and inclusive workplace culture.

4) Making time for what matters

Recognizing that personal well being extends beyond the workplace, MEAP observes Eat With Your Family Day once a month. On one Friday each month, employees are released one hour earlier to spend time with family or loved ones. This practice reinforces the company’s belief that strong personal support systems and healthy work-life balance are essential to sustained performance and long-term well-being.

Why consistency matters

A strong culture of well being is not defined by one off initiatives. It is shaped by consistent practices that employees can rely on and experience over time.

The Singapore’s Best Employers 2025 ranking is grounded in employee recommendations, underscoring the importance of trust and advocacy within the company.

Similarly, the WorkWell Leaders Top 25 Impact Employers recognition highlights leadership behaviors and daily practices that support both employee well being and organizational performance.

These perspectives reaffirm a consistent message: employees thrive when care is visible, embedded, and sustained.

Looking ahead

Well being and culture continue to evolve. MEAP remains focused on listening to its people and refining its practices over time. Priority areas include keeping initiatives practical, building capability across teams and leaders, and measuring what genuinely improves the employee experience.

When people thrive, the impact naturally extends beyond the organization. Customers feel this, partners see it, and communities benefit. This is the culture MEAP continues to foster among employees.
