Mitsubishi Electric companies join electric vehicle test-bed in Singapore

To help lay the groundwork for a cleaner, greener and more sustainable transportation system in Singapore, two local Mitsubishi Electric Group companies, Mitsubishi Electric Asia and Mitsubishi Elevator Singapore, have each purchased an electric vehicle (EV) to support a 3-year test-bed by Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) and Land Transport Authority (LTA) inter-agency EV Taskforce to gauge different EV prototypes and charging technologies before deciding on mass adoption. The EV, which is powered entirely by batteries, recharged using an electric power source and propelled by an electric motor rather than an engine, is mainly used by personnel for short site visits or meetings. Usage data is submitted monthly, collected through an EV data logger installed in the vehicle and a charging station in the car park. The program places Singapore among the first countries to test-bed an ecologically sustainable and integrated transport solution at the system level.
