Planting Day at special needs school
In honor of National Volunteer Month and Earth Day on April 14, 2012, 16 volunteers from the LOVE Committee (Leading Others with Volunteer Efforts) at Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. participated in a Planting Day at the Special Needs School of Gwinnett County, Suwanee, Georgia, USA. LOVE is a long-time supporter of the Special Needs School, which educates students with disabilities. Employee volunteers, their friends and family rolled up their sleeves and cleaned up the land around the school. They placed mulch and planted in the front of the building. Volunteers also prepared planting beds with flowers and vegetables for students to practice their gardening skills. These beds allow the students to learn a valuable skill and the benefits of healthy eating by planting their own vegetables in the garden. The students at the school will be enjoying the benefits of this planting day for many school days to come. In addition to this project, the LOVE Committee has worked in their local community to benefit the Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation with park clean-ups and provided volunteer hours and support for other organizations that help children with disabilities.
