Partial discharge monitoring system

On-line partial discharge monitoring(PDM) can detects electromagnetically radiated Partial Discharge signals from stator windings sensitively and continuously. PDM detects stator insulation malfunctions at an early stage.

Features

  • Easy antenna installation without rotor removal
  • Sensor installation on electrically grounded area
  • Coverage of a larger stator winding physical area in PD activity
  • Sensitive detection of signals occurring on from high voltage aide to low voltage side

Technological Development

  • To identify PD sources accurately, PD patterns have investigated and classified by model test.
  • Developing a technique to analyze and evaluate a location and condition of PD by FEM.

Summary

  • On-line PD Monitoring System with Microstrip Antenna which can detect PD activities over a wide area of windings and be applicable to wide range of generator size.
  • The microstrip antenna can be easily installed inside turbine generator housing without reaching any high potential area.
  • Combination of on-line PD monitoring and diagnostic electrical insulation tests enables users to grasp insulation condition at earlier stage and to make proper maintenance plan possible.
