ID SYSTEM FOR BIOMETRICS DATABASE
While no two fingerprints are alike, methods for finding and identifying fingerprints are time-consuming. Mitsubishi Electric has developed a better way, through a high-speed identification system for massive-volume biometrics databases.
In about a second the system can find a subject from among the fingerprints of 100,000 people, thus enabling retrieval of approximately ten times the data that is possible with conventional systems, while using the same amount of memory. Another promising biometric ID system now in development is 3D face recognition technology.
