Doppler Lidar systems transmit laser beams, receive the light reflected off of aerosols such as dust and other particulates in the air, and measure the wind speed and direction using the Doppler effect (frequency shift) of the reflected light. Mitsubishi Electric's Doppler Lidar systems observe the movement of aerosols such as invisible dust and other particulates in the air, and determine the wind speed and direction based on the aerosol movement. Their applications include predicting and monitoring wind in urban areas, industrial energy systems, and monitoring air traffic safety and real-time wind conditions.
