Process Automation System

CNA trusts Mitsubishi Electric programmable logic controllers (PLC) for their most important systems, such as ventilation for Southeast Asia's longest highway tunnel.

Controlling the ventilation of 9 km of underground roadway requires complex technology

When completed, the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) in Singapore will be an engineering marvel—six lanes of highway, most of it underground, linking Singapore's Tampines Expressway to the Eastcoast Parkway. For the 9 km of the roadway that will be underground, a special ventilation system has been designed to continuously maintain and monitor air quality and provide effective smoke control in case of fire.

Together, CNA and Mitsubishi Electric created a highly reliable control system

An award-winning specialist in the design and maintenance of integrated control systems, the CNA Group Ltd., often collaborates with Mitsubishi Electric for major public works projects in Singapore. The KPE tunnel will be divided into six segments, and each will feature 50 Mitsubishi Electric PLCs controlling approximately 7000 points. Features such as compact size, flexibility and programmability made Mitsubishi Electric PLCs essential to the project.

Helping to provide fresh air for thousands of motorists is technology that most everyone can appreciate.
